Bingo Luck
Statistics have shown that 75% of people carry good luck charms, whether they admit it is another matter all together. In bingo halls there is always some lucky person who seems to win all of the time regardless of how many bingo cards they have, what seat they sit on or how many teddy bears they have on the table. So why do people still keep their superstitions going? Who knows? There’s not reasoning to them… They’re superstitions. Here’s a list of some of the most common “luck aids”.
Lucky Seats
If you’ve never played in a club before don’t expect to keep your seat for very long. If a regular has deemed it to be their lucky seat then there will be no getting around it, you just have to move… And I’d move quickly. Anyway, if you didn’t move and then you won the bingo jackpot then you’d probably have to share it with that person for using their lucky seat, and you wouldn’t want that!
Lucky Charms
These run not just for bingo but all walks of life, football supporters who won’t wash their lucky top all season, students who have a lucky pen or lucky socks for exams. In bingo there is no knowing what can be deemed as a lucky charm. I remember when I was younger my cousin finding a bolt on the floor and telling my Gran it was lucky and she always took it to bingo! Other more traditional items include a rabbit’s foot, soft toys, nick knacks from holidays and four-leaf clovers. There are more obscure ones and if you see one take a photo of it and send it in so we can display it here!
Lucky Numbers
I’ve never done this before but there are people who if they get their lucky or unlucky number on a card then they will either be very happy or trying to trade the bingo card in for another one. I’d be too scared that I’d trade in a card that might win a full house!
